We have an exciting announcement!
How to spot a carpet bargain
It’s easy, isn’t it? You see the words Carpet Sale or Cheap Carpet. The advertising screams “discount deals!” Surely this is the short cut to buying carpet at a cut-price.
Not so fast.
Before you hand over your hard-earned cash, take a few minutes to look at the bigger picture. The headline price may be just a small part of the total bill. Here are some things to keep in mind.
Is installation included?
Make sure you get the full price of installation included in your quote. Some carpet retailers will focus on a cheap price per metre, then sock you with extras once you’re committed. You should also ask if the quote includes extra charges for shifting furniture, re-hanging doors and getting rid of your old carpet.
However, don’t be tempted to penny-pinch on installation. Incompetently laid carpet can lose as much as half of its lifespan, so it’s well worth using the professionals.
Accurate measurement saves you money
Another way to pump up the price of ‘cheap carpet’ is to over-estimate the amount you’ll need. A 10% over-estimate is 10% more on the bill – and all you’ll receive is a lot of useless off-cuts.
The solution? Accurate measurement of all your rooms using the latest laser measuring tools. Then you’ll only be paying for what you need – and not a penny more.
Horses for courses
If your budget is tight, you can still enjoy great carpet. Just think about where the carpet will live. You could choose superb wool carpets for your living room and bedrooms, and cheaper nylon carpet for the family room downstairs. Your carpet consultant can help you get the best look for your budget.
Ask about end-of-line styles
If you’re not dead-set on a particular style, you can ask the carpet retailer if there are any end-of-line or clearance deals in stock. Who knows, you could find a fantastic carpet deal on some quality lines that are about to disappear from the showroom.
